T7 – How To Write Your Twitter Bio

Your twitter bio will be one of two things that people will look at when deciding whether or not to follow you, the other being the tweets that you’re sending out. It’s meant to represent who you are, what you do and what you stand for in 140 characters and getting it right will mean you’re likely to attract more followers.

To start with ask yourself these 2 questions: who do I want to follow me and why should they bother? The answers you come up with be your “acid test” – when you’ve written your bio just ask yourself: will this attract the people that I want and will it compel them to click the follow button.

We’ve identified 6 basic types of bio although there are undoubtedly more. Let’s look at each one so that you can decide which one would best suit you.

  1. The dot dot dot: lkdjklhkjh
  2. The keyword
  3. The detail
  4. The factual
  5. The personal
  6. The edgy

Although for most B2B sales people Twitter is more of a research and interaction tool it’s still important to get a bio that is in keeping with the rest of your online brand and will attract the people you want as followers.
